SPAR Regional Office Bloemfontein was set up as a satellite office to assist with managing stores in the Free State and Northern Cape. The SPAR Group has a rich history dating back to 1932 when the first store was founded by Adriaan van Well in the Netherlands. Today, SPAR can be found in 32 countries on 5 continents with over 17 500 Supermarkets. First launched in South Africa in 1968, the Free State and Northern Cape number 57 stores and continues to grow.

The SPAR philosophy encapsulated in the original name DESPAR which translated means “all will benefit from united co-operation.” This is the world class standard to which our Regional Office aspires.

The team located at Preller Plein Shopping Centre comprises a Senior Retail Operations Manager and Retail Operations Managers who provide their expertise and support to Retailers. In addition, there are Specialists who oversee the high standards of our Stores in terms of HMR Hot Food Deli/Take Away, Fresh Produce, Butchery and Bakery. The Development, Training and IT teams ensure that our Retailers are always at the cutting edge of new technology and innovation. CATMAN support our Retailers with range review and placement of products and ensure best practice standards are in place.
